Yesterday was my first experience with Green Lantern, so went in with no preconceived notions, don't even know what the story was about.

The movie started off fine, but came to a sloppy end. Felt illogical that Hal who supposedly can't drive his powers well, managed to defeat Parallax, while a squadron of finest Green Lanterns couldn't. Ok, he didn't even defeat Parallax himself, nature did it for him.

Many characters appeared, but only a few had real screentime. Didn't feel there was much character development. Carol was mostly just as Hal said, "Stay there and look pretty", though she did sort of save Hal's ass in the show. The other Green Lanterns didn't even really get to showcase their powers. Basically was just Hal's one-man-show.

The graphics were not bad, but didn't wow me? Seems like a sequel is in planning with what happened at the very end (do watch part of the credits, that's where it is).

I felt the most memorable part of the movie was actually the dogfight at the start, though my friend objected and felt the first few minutes was the most boring part of the show *shrug*

Other than that, when the Elders were recalling about the fallen Elder that became Parallax, the scene where the Elder walked into the forbidden chamber was poignant. Maybe it was the lines "His intentions were pure" that struck a chord?

Oh, and I liked Abin Sur's spaceship. Reminds me of R-type...Wonder what happened to the spaceship. They brought back the body for dissecting but not the ship?

A few corny moments, some preaches. Overall, is a watchable movie to kill time, but don't go in with high expectations or I guess you'll exit the cinema feeling shortchanged.
